What I Think About Fitness Boot Camps – Part 2

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

There was so much to say about fitness boot camps I had to put it into two parts, who would have thought?

The truth is that boot camps have blown up, which means that whatever we do in our programs, systems and training sessions is going to affect a large number of people!

“With great power comes great responsibility”, can’t remember who said that, I think it may have been Spidey….

While we’re taking quotes from Mr. Spidey, we can also ask him about his training program and nutrition, dude is lean! (more…)

Thoughts and…Some More Thoughts

Monday, June 1st, 2009

1. First of I would like to congratulate a couple of Hocevar Performance athletes. Armin Basic won the state dicuss meet with a throw of just under 176 feet and then finished second in the shotput with 57.8 feet, both were PR’s!

Matt Fields (Charlotte Stone Crabs) had a great couple of games, hitting 3 home runs and having 7 RBI against Clearwater this past week. He is among the top 3 in the league in HR’s and RBI. Watch out for Matt as he is one of the most powerful hitters in the game!

2. I go through a bunch of books, manuals and dvd’s related to training and I thought I would start reviewing some of the good one’s I watch (yes, unfortunately I go through some crap as well). I just got done watching Robert Dos Remedios CHAOS Sport Speed Training and I have to say its really good. It gives the rational behind the training in a lecture format and shows tons of examples. If you play or coach basketball, football or any other sport that requires speed and agility and is unpredictable, then this DVD will definitely help you improve performance. (more…)

A Day In The Life

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Think about what your day looks like and what you would like it to look like. Every once in a while I sit down and asses what is going on in my life and whether I’m making progress with my goals. Many times you will find that you are far from where you want to be and you aren’t doing a damn thing about it! I work more than I would like and affect less people than I would like (by improving their performance or their physique) but it’s always a work in progress and I am dedicated to to creating that perfect day for myself. So here is where I am right now….. (more…)

What Foods Are You Bringing Home?

Monday, November 10th, 2008

I don’t think I need to go into how important nutrition is, whether your goal is to become a powerhouse athlete or you are looking to get that sexy body you have been dreaming off.

It’s amazing how many people will come to the gym and bust their butt in the training session but not pay attention to what they eat after they come home (or before they left home for that matter). Then there are people who decide that they will commit to eating right but never take action on it. You have to prepare yourself for success and do the shopping for the whole week (plan it) and also cook for the week or at least a couple of days ahead. That way you cannot have an excuse that you did not have time to get the food, make the food, your dog ate it, or anything else that comes to your mind.

Here is a video of what I brought home from my Sunday shopping: (more…)

WARNING: Supplement Industry!

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

A couple of days ago I watched the documentary Bigger, Faster, Stronger, which is about the use of steroids in America. It is a great documentary and it makes you question a lot of things and you can really see how fake and misleading a lot of people are (not to mention not having a clue about what they are talking about), from politicians, doctors, athletes, etc.

I won’t give you my whole thought process on the subject but what I will do is share my thought on the supplement industry. If you watch the movie you will see how much of the supplement world is nothing but a scam. Many of the fitness magazines that market supplements more than they provide content, have before and after pictures that are complete scams and really can’t be regulated. Here is a snap from the movie where some truth is revealed. (more…)
